A 'curbside consultation' has historically referred to an informal conversation between healthcare professionals where one clinician seeks direct advice or guidance from the other clinician. These consults are fast, conveninent, and meant to provide expert insight without the need for a formal consultation or patient referral.
At Curbside Ortho, we’ve adapted this concept to the benefit of our patients. We provide fast and convenient access to experienced orthopedic specialists so that patients do not have to endure long wait times, complex referrals, or unnecessary visits to the doctor's office. Getting a Curbside consultation ensures that you receive timely orthopedic evaluation and guidance so that management of your condition starts right away.

Who should use Curbside?
Curbside services are available for any individual over the age of 13 seeking timely, high-quality orthopedic care, regardless of insurance status. Through the Curbside platform, individuals can schedule and see Curbside clinicians from the comfort of their own home. Our services can be an effective time-saving and cost-effective option for individuals with high-deductible insurance plans, stipulations in coverage that require a referral or pre-authorization, or simply do not have insurance.

Who should not use Curbside?
Curbside services should not be used for medical emergencies. Any potential medical emergency or life-threatening symptoms should be handled by contacting 911 and/or by visiting the nearest emergency room.

Who provides care at Curbside?
The Curbside team is made up of experienced physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) who are highly trained and specialized in orthopedic medicine. All of our current providers have practiced clinically for >15 years and are active members of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. The shared experience and expertise of our team ensures that patients receive definitive information about their condition and minimize potential delays in care.

How do I access Curbside services?

Do you accept insurance?
Yes. Curbside Ortho is currently in-network with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and United Healthcare. If you have one of these plans, you can use your insurance for covered telehealth visits with our orthopedic team. If your plan isn't in-network with us yet, you can still see us through direct pay. This option is for patients whose current insurance we don't yet accept, not a substitute for using your coverage if we're already in-network with your plan.
If a Curbside clinician provides a prescription or referral, those services are often covered separately by your insurance, and we'll help with any paperwork needed to expedite treatment.

What is the cost of a direct-pay appointment?
At Curbside, we keep pricing simple and transparent so you always know what to expect before you book.
A direct-pay telehealth visit is $150. That covers a full consultation with one of our orthopedic clinicians, focused on diagnosing your condition and helping you understand what's going on and what to do next. If you need a doctor's note, medication, or a referral, that's included in your visit, so you can keep moving toward treatment without extra steps or surprise costs. Most visits take about 20 minutes. If your visit runs longer, or if our team needs extra time to coordinate care on your behalf, such as working with imaging, physical therapy, or another specialist, we may bill for that additional time so we can properly support your recovery.
